e-SamikSha is a real time, on-line system for monitoring of follow-up action on the decisions taken during the presentations made by different Ministries/Departments to the Prime Minister. The follow-up action in respect of each decision is to be updated by the concerned Ministry/Department/Agency as and when the status changes or at least every month. Different users such as the PMO/Cabinet Secretariat/Ministries/Departments can securely access the system through a log-in/password. This system can also be configured to review the follow up action in respect of other meetings, if required.

Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India launched the e-SamikSha web portal on 20th August 2014, at Cabinet Secretariat, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi. e-SamikSha is developed and managed by NIC, Cabinet Secretariat Informatics Division, Cabinet Secretariat, for monitoring of follow-up action on the decisions taken during the presentations made by different Ministries/Departments to the Prime Minister.

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu launched ‘e-SamikSha’ for monitoring the implementation of budget announcements/commitments, on April 21, 2016.

UP and Bihar have become the first states to roll out their own e-Samik-Sha portals on the lines of PM's e-SamikSha run by Centre to monitor the progress of its big projects and schemes.  e-SamikSha is PM Modi's pet idea started in November 2014 for tracking of all high-priority projects through a real-time monitoring system by cabinet secretary and PM.

National Informatics Centre (NIC) was established in 1976, and has since emerged as a "prime builder" of e-Government / e-Governance applications up to the grassroots level as well as a promoter of digital opportunities for sustainable development. NIC, through its ICT Network, "NICNET", has institutional linkages with all the Ministries /Departments of the Central Government, 36 State Governments/ Union Territories, and about 688 District administrations of India. NIC has been instrumental in steering e-Government/e-Governance applications in government ministries/departments at the Centre, States, Districts and Blocks, facilitating improvement in government services, wider transparency, promoting decentralized planning and management, resulting in better efficiency and accountability to the people of India.
